Koala’s are not nice cute cuddly animals. They are nasty vicious balls of muscle with sharp claws. They only look cute because they’re sitting up gum trees half asleep, because all they ever eat is gum leaves. They look far less cute when they’re fighting with other koalas over ownership of said gum tree (or possibly the female koala next door), and are screaming and screeching and ripping chunks of fur out of each other.
Wombats are slightly cuter – although they are also little more than balls of muscle with fur and sharp claws. They receive slightly less publicity however.

I never said they looked like bats! Oh, but hang on, if that’s in reference to the title… oops, apparently battler is more aussie slang. And the title was actually in reference to Fatso the fat arsed wombat (aka. the battlers prince) – an alternate mascot during the Sydney Olympics… that in all likelihood, no-one but Australians ever knew about.

They look kinda cute too, with the pointy ears and big nose.
I concur – they are cute. Although they are also capable of ripping a hole in the side of your tent if they feel like it; and if they find food in there, it’s very hard to convince them to leave.
Also, I now have an odd image of winged wombats in my brain. They’re something like the winged monkeys in the Wizard of Oz, but more uncoordinated, and likely to fly into things.
