News to any arsonists – the Mt Buller fire spotting hut is not manned around sunset. Prime time to burn down more alpine forests (please don’t).

Also, I’d like to put in an order for lots of snow this year, and a really long snow season. Mountain biking around a hot and dusty Mt Buller was rather depressing. The ski lifts just looked so sad and pointless (except perhaps the one with mountain bikers coming up on it). My telemark skis are sitting in the corner of my room, also looking sad and pointless. Please bring snow, oh great Flying Spaghetti Monster.

You get your snow AFTER I get mine! It’s the second week of January, and it’s sunny and 9 degree-C outside. Good for climbing but… man, I was really hoping to use my snowboard a little bit before I leave!

Well, the old way to ensure a good snow season was to sacrifice a virgin. The problem these days is finding a virgin, particularly around the Mansfield area. To get around this crux we looked at substitutes, and found that vegetarians will do in a pinch. Of course you do end up with a high porportion of corn snow, but you take what you can get.

Yeah, I’m all out of vegetarians at the moment – all the ones I know that say they are vegetarians eat fish as well, and then say “Well actually, I’ve started eating kangaroo too” (because we all know that kangaroos are not actually animals, but in fact evil alien portals).

No, hang on, come to think of it, both Shaggy and Sair might pass as vegetarians for snow sacrifice. Do we get a snow season that’s twice as good if we sacrifice two of them?

dont know but it’s worth a shot, just hope neither of them get tempted by a chicken kebab bofore the season…mmmm…chicken

The FSM has been good to us here in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I think we are up to 250 inches so far and we’ve got three months of the season to go, although we’re running low on virgins to sacrifice so maybe it’s going be like the Brisbane Lions in the 04 GF and all come unstuck at half time (no, I still haven’t gotten over it, OK).

At the risk of making you insanely jealous check it out on my blog http://steamboatdreaming.blogspot.com
