not alone in the birdcage anymore

It looks like they’re getting a second PhD student in at work – she’ll be sitting on the desk next to me. Being the only female in a section full of male engineers who all have a good 15 years on me… well, I feel a bit like I’m the pet bird they got on a whim. And they’ve since realised it’s a bit lonely, so they’ve decided to get a second bird to keep it company. I hope they don’t take away my toys and my mirror.

That happened to me once, but I slapped the other birdie down and they got me a new cage and everything.

Oh, awesome! Yeah, I’m a bit dubious about this whole cage sharing idea. I’m thinking I might end up trying to tear out some of her feathers, because she’ll try and steal my favourite toy, and I’ll be all like “Hey, that’s my toy”, and mayhem and chaos will ensue.

I think that in order to prevent undue distress you should insist on your own piece of cuttlefish

That reminds me, apparently Rocky now has a set of Grass Parrots (in an adjacent cage) to keep him company. So he sits there watching them closely with one eye and saying ‘Hello?’ occasionally.
