Living in a valley has its perks – there are mountains everywhere for one. Unfortunately the mountains can block the sun pretty effectively though.
We’ve moved from living in a half-hour-of-direct-sunlight-per-day zone (where we were in a basement apartment to boot), to somewhere that won’t drop to less than four hours of direct sunlight, even in the dark depths of Winter. This should be an improvement.

Hurrah for 10:30-12:30 and 14:00-16:00 (rough calcs from Banff townsite).
Ooh, I hadn’t even tried to work out when our sun would come (although I do know it comes through the kitchen window in the morning… we’d get more if I could rig up a system of mirrors on the roof of the house next door)
