This one is made up of lots of video snippets from the last 6 months – learning to walk, learning to ski, and hanging out in the snow and mountains.

A snow globe kind of day, it just snowed and snowed, and the big fat flakes came floating down. We took advantage of the total snow cover, and went wandering around town with the sled.
And after picking up hot chocolate (ok, fine, one coffee and one chocolate chai) we wandered down by the river, and everything was snow-covered and muffled and a little bit Narnian.
Although there’s been a lot of snow this winter, there’s been a lot of warm weather as well, so the snow hasn’t hung around so much. As a result there have been great conditions for getting out riding.
Well, up to Whiteman’s Gap is always do-able.
But here are the trails on the sunny side of the valley, the G8 side of Cougar Creek:
And the magical Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro tyres that make mountain biking on ice feasible, instead of suicidal:
In the last few weeks I’ve had some of my favourite rides out there. Compacted snow and ice with spiky tyres make for fantastic biking! (And another handy thing, the bears are all still asleep). Now to convince more people that they need to buy studded tyres…
I haven’t been skiing at the resorts a whole lot this year, but every day I’ve been to Sunshine has been a powder day. Maybe not so surprising seeing as they’re on track for a record amount of snowfall this year.
We barely ever stop for photos when skiing at resorts, so here’s a couple of me, just for something different.
We ended up stuck at the hill until the end of the day, not such a bad thing in this case. The avalanche control done by Parks Canada on the Sunshine access road had led to a rather large avalanche. It took them a while to get the road clear, and driving past on our way home, you could see the slide was full of mature timber.
Another ski up Skogan Pass – this time avoiding the herds of cougars that were roaming the place. We saw footprints, but no kitties.
