{"id":6027,"date":"2016-06-26T23:10:41","date_gmt":"2016-06-27T05:10:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/evilmoose.me\/?p=6027"},"modified":"2016-08-18T09:12:38","modified_gmt":"2016-08-18T15:12:38","slug":"out-from-ribbon-lake-via-north-buller-pass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/evilmoose.me\/?p=6027","title":{"rendered":"Out from Ribbon Lake via North Buller Pass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After saying goodbye to the others, we set off towards North Buller Pass.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2016-06-Ribbon-Lake\/i-XPdX3mQ\/0\/L\/20160626-IMG_9173-L.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First, back over the bridge and up along that strip of snow that angles into the creek &#8211; none of us fell in.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2016-06-Ribbon-Lake\/i-NtwQfMQ\/0\/L\/20160626-IMG_9177-L.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Back up and over the huge snow patches *trudge trudge trudge*<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2016-06-Ribbon-Lake\/i-qXrCqbn\/0\/L\/20160626-IMG_9182-L.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I even let the boy have the camera to get a photo of us.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2016-06-Ribbon-Lake\/i-V4RLLk6\/0\/L\/20160626-IMG_9183-L.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wandering across to North Buller pass is a route rather than a path. We spread out and picked our way across the tussocky grass, before reaching&#8230; what&#8217;s this? Yet more snow!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2016-06-Ribbon-Lake\/i-VgSjD67\/0\/L\/20160626-IMG_9189-L.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thankfully it was fairly easy to cross, although slower than we were expecting. We picked our line carefully, and then made the final steep pitch up to the pass proper.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2016-06-Ribbon-Lake\/i-7xCsjkL\/0\/L\/20160626-IMG_9199-L.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From there we were slightly relieved to confirm that from here down it was going to be mostly just dirt and scree.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2016-06-Ribbon-Lake\/i-RmZtsJZ\/0\/L\/20160626-IMG_9204-L.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We started singing as we picked our way down, and re-entered the trees. Moving faster now, and it was starting to get warmer, and with clearer skies than there had been all weekend.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2016-06-Ribbon-Lake\/i-hwjN2cV\/0\/L\/20160626-IMG_9205-L.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And below is where I finally confirm that the boy has inherited my weird hyper-flexing joints. Sorry Finn.
