The sun is coming back! Huzzah to all Northern Hemispherians, the evil Southern Hemisphere is now bound to return our sun to us.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evilmoose.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2014-Canada-Hiking\/i-P3pqHMR\/0\/X2\/20141221-IMG_3745-X2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We left town at 6am, and hiked up to the summit of Ha Ling Peak to arrive just as the sky was starting to lighten, at around 7.45am.  On the one hand, it was beautiful.  On the other, it was very windy (the forecast was calling for 30km\/hr, gusting to 50km\/hr).  There may have been some huddling.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evilmoose.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2014-Canada-Hiking\/i-8GWTT7b\/0\/X2\/20141221-IMG_3748-X2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Poor Lincoln was just about freezing to death.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evilmoose.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2014-Canada-Hiking\/i-hQ7mc6f\/0\/X2\/20141221-IMG_3757-X2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There was some attempted photography inbetween bouts of huddling.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evilmoose.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2014-Canada-Hiking\/i-zjKmvVW\/0\/X2\/20141221-IMG_3759-X2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then the rest of the crew made a brief stop at the summit.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evilmoose.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2014-Canada-Hiking\/i-dmL3K3p\/0\/X2\/20141221-IMG_3763-X2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At which point we all decided it was time to start heading down.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evilmoose.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2014-Canada-Hiking\/i-92jvtHL\/0\/X2\/20141221-IMG_3766-X2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As we reached the saddle below the peak, the pink in the sky started to brighten with the sunrise proper, and we took a few more photos before scarpering back down the hill.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/evilmoose.smugmug.com\/Hiking-Running\/2014-Canada-Hiking\/i-DXdMmpM\/0\/X2\/20141221-IMG_3785-X2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The trail is mostly in good condition at the moment &#8211; some ice lower down, but mostly packed snow.  <a href=\"http:\/\/evilmoose.me\/?p=4219\">Two years<\/a> in a row (three if you count the time I went up <a href=\"http:\/\/evilmoose.me\/?p=3852\">the day after solstice<\/a>) this is becoming a solstice tradition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We did it!
