a snowy hike up mt torbreck

This was just a quick jaunt up a little obscure hill in Victoria. Fairly snowy, and so overgrown at the top that there wasn’t much of a view, even with the enormous cairn.

*excellent*

After months of inaction, Russell the Peak-Bagging Moose (me, that is) finally got to go out and bag some peaks – and this one was a worthy one. Mount Bogong, highest mountain in Victoria, Australia (I understand it probably doesn’t count as particularly worth if I was a moose from another country, but I must make do with what is available).

There was over 1300 metres of vertical gain in one day to reach the summit, there was wind and snow, and beautiful clear blue skies. I’m a happy moose once more.

(You can just make me out sheltering between the stones of the cairn – I was close to being blown away)

a scrub bashing epic

Well it wasn’t particularly epic for me. In fact I don’t really know what they were complaining about. It was a bit of a bumpy ride from my backpack though.

This was my ascent of Mount Ramsay in Wilson’s Prom. There was a lovely view from the summit, although it was a little cold.

blue mountains moose

I gaze out over the Blue Mountains escarpment. This was a quiet trip for me, of lazing by cliff walls in the sun, and contemplating my fur.

finally! an adventure!

Aha, finally I get to see some action! I just spent the last week touring around Tasmania. Some lovely peaks out in the South West, but we just didn’t get the time to go and bag them. But I did get to go to the summit on Ben Lomond. Tasmania really is a very agreeable place. Anyway, here is a photo of me at the summit cairn of Ben Lomond, one cold and windy morning.
