back again

So, the servers my site lives on went a bit kerfluey. Back in action now though. Apparently.

Highlights of the past week: curry night, aid-climbing the chinup bar in our house, and dreadlock removal.

Lowlights: lack of sleep, supervisor failing to materialise.

random observations

Most of the cars here don’t have orange indicators. They just have red ones in with their brake lights. Which makes them not particularly visible. So even when people do decide to indicate, half the time you can’t tell anyway.

And now a quote from the Australian newspaper, The Age:

“Up to 12 people wanted over the assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq hariri are believed to be Australian citizens who could have returned home after the bombing earlier this week, according to a senior Lebanese minister. Lebanon’s Justice Minister Adnan Addoum said authorities had contacted Interpol in Sydney over the departure from Beirut to Australia of 12 men – most bearded – on Monday, the day of the bombing that killed Mr Hariri and 16 others.”

You have to watch out for those bearded men. The emphasis is mine, but that’s how the article was written.

Oh, and I’ve just realised why it doesn’t feel like my birthday. My birthday is in summer. It’s quite often stinking hot. It’s never been -2oC before (oh no, sorry, today actually reached a maximum of 0oC, but with windchill making it much colder).

Also, apologies to people who are trying to look at my site using internet explorer. I might get around to fixing the silly menu behaviour sometime this weekend.

good old days at the mill

Bryden at the Mill.

Bryden bouldering at the Mill. hopefully all the rumours are true, and we’ll have new bouldering areas opening up close to the city. the loss of the mill followed by the burning of vic ranges has left a bit of a gap in the melbourne gym climbing world.

(meanwhile i’ve been busy incorporating all of my old photo sections into the site. soon there’ll be a nice shiny climbing link on the sidebar. however the next/previous page links at the bottom of the page keep refusing to load at the bottom of the page, unless you refresh)

geek much

climber

a photo taken during a bouldering session around this time last year. meanwhile i’m having great fun fiddling around with the site. geek. not entirely sure what i’m going to end up doing with it, but it’s fun playing. and having to resolve silly design issues like the fact that up until i implemented wordpress i never used post titles. meh. (actually, i’m really not sure what to do about it. i can’t really go back and give everything a title. maybe i just ignore the issue and keep posting until all of the title-less posts disappear off the front page, that sounds like a valid ‘problem, what problem?’ sort of approach)

despite the fact i’ve not been working for the past month, i’ve still not managed to do any work on this site. most likely because i have vague plans of updating somehow, but i’m not sure how (using moveable type, or one of those new fangled applications – mt wouldn’t agree with my host for some reason, and the other thing i tried was just plain annoying). anyway, i’ve added to the russell the peak bagging moose page. meanwhile, it’s looking more and more likely that i’m going to have two winters in a row – yes, just as we’re hitting spring here, i’m getting set to go off and work in washington dc for up to 6 months. i hear it’s cold there.

i shall now cycle back home again and go on a pants hunt.

………

note to self: must stop writing posts about the fact i haven’t posted in ages.
