krispy kreme is evil

Skiing on man-made snow is just a little bit depressing…

Also, I’m sorry, but I just don’t like donuts. What’s wrong with cake, or muffins, or cookies? These are all tasty.

If you are interested in changing your mind about donuts then visit Ivanhoe Cakes on Hiedleberg Rd. The apricot ones are fantastic….But I’m all for rapid reciership of krispy creme

Apricot donuts? Hmm. I suppose it’s possible. But nothing beats a good choc-chip cookie, still warm and slightly soft, with the choc-chips still molten when you bite into them…. aaaahhhh. Those cookies were the highlight of Pentagon City mall. Unfortunately it was one of the stations on the train-ride to work, so it was quite tempting to jump off there, sprint up the escalators, duck inside the mall, grab a cookie, then race back down the stairs to catch the next train through (meanwhile surreptitiously trying to eat my cookie on the platform without the anti-food brigade coming to fine me).

Well Megan I have this vision I will agree of quite yummy cookies (home made of course) that were given as Christmas presents to all of the rellies. Much better than donuts. I will admit that having cooked with you on many occasions in your extreme youth, Anzac biscuits were a favourite and then came along Bunyip buns which Christopher made for a long time. But my all time favourite would have to be burnt butter biscuits (with the almonds on top) – I’m sure I’m quite peckish just thinking about them.

I have not had the pleasure of tasting REAL CCC’s from the US of A, but the memory of Burnt Butter Bickies will linger in my mind for ever…..

You don’t like doughnuts? Huh? Can anybody not like doughnuts? Oh, wait a minute, that’s right, just another one of those things that we north americans have grown up to love, and it turns out the rest of the world isn’t so big on them. Strange, I’m discovering there are so many of those things…

I’ve never actually had Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I’ve heard of them plenty, but the first time I actually saw them was in the Sydney airport, and they were outrageously priced. I’ve always wondered if they’re the same as the doughnuts I know and love from Canada.

Yeah, I just never really ‘got’ doughnuts. They just seemed a really poor parcel for a load of fat and sugar. I have no problem with eating parcels of fat and sugar, but doughnuts never seemed to taste good enough to warrant the unhealthiness (although I will occasionally go a fresh hot jam doughnut… mmmm).
